The Japanese actor, Kimura Takuya 木村拓哉 (also known as キムタク KimuTaku), will be starring in the upcoming series, The Swarm, an international drama series based on Frank Schatzing’s novel.
The drama is a European production and will be released worldwide, and will also be Kimura’s first international appearance.
The Swarm will be released next year, in 2022, and people in Japan will have the possibility to watch it on Hulu Japan.
The thriller focuses on environmental issues and follows a group of scientists researching unknown living beings that live in the depth of the sea (aka the swarm intelligence).
Kimura will play the role of one of the scientists in the group, Aito Mifune, and all his lines will be in English.
The shoot will take place in Europe (more precisely Italy), and many known names from Hollywood are currently working on the series.
What is even more exciting is that the producer is Frank Doelger, who also produced and directed one of the most popular series in the world, the HBO series Game of Thrones.
So, who else is excited to see KimuTaku in his first international drama?
