Prairie dogs have a lot of adorable qualities, but one of their most remarkable and meme-worthy is how expressive they become when surprised or taken aback.

Japanese Twitter user Yukiyng（@Yukiyng2）recently shared a video that puts that animated reaction on full display. While out for a walk with their prairie dog, V, they rewarded them for their efforts with a tasty banana.

Yukiyng also happened to be carrying a rubber chicken toy, and thought it might be a fun idea to surprise V during snack time--it did not go as planned, however.

Something about the rubber chicken toy has V absolutely spooked, giving a stunned reaction straight out of a cartoon. Perhaps V was so focused on the banana that the chicken intruder came as an even bigger surprise. Yukiyng writes that they didn't expect such a surprised reaction and apologized profusely to V--who was probably calmed down by realizing they still had plenty of banana left to eat.
