When Animal Aid Unlimited first found this dog curled up on the side of the road in India, he was starving, dehydrated and ravaged by mange. But just two months later, they were able to nourish him back into the happy, healthy dog he was always meant to be.
Animal Aid Unlimited recalled that during their initial contact with the dog, he “was in such a state that even when our ambulance parked nearby he didn’t even lift his head.”
They immediately took him back to their rescue center where they tried to feed him. He was extremely exhausted and could barely even get up to eat. Wary of the staff’s hand, it was clear he hadn’t had human contact in a very long time.
But the organization’s tenacious efforts to heal him were not in vain, and in 10 days his skin was completely healed. Then after two months of intensive treatment, he was transformed into a healthy, beautiful dog that had little resemblance to the dog Animal Aid Unlimited had first picked up off the streets.
But the story of this dog is only the tip of the iceberg. In any given day, Animal Aid Unlimited’s staff treats around 150 ownerless animals for fractures, wounds, spinal injuries, mange and illnesses. They have rescued more than 45,000 dogs, cows, donkeys, birds and cats.
A rescue center, hospital and sanctuary located in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India, Animal Aid Unlimited says their ultimate goal is the equality and protection of all animals, as well as a complete end to the use and abuse of animals. They continue working for the day that every dog, donkey, cow, pig, fish and mouse can live their lives in freedom.
If you would like to contribute in the aid of these animals in need, you can donate, or simply visit Animal Aid Unlimited’s website to see what they’re up to. (Warning: many of the photos on their website are very graphic.) Because as this amazing organization says, “taking action is the pivotal experience that can change everything for good.”
