The Japanese are known for their politeness, but these little guinea pigs living in Tokyo’s Ueno Zoo are showing people what politeness is really about.
Open since 1882, Ueno Zoo is Japan’s oldest zoo and boasts the top number of visitors in all of Japan. One of the stars of the children’s petting zoo section are these guinea pigs. After a long day of offering their charm and lots of cuddles, the zoo employee removes the door to their hut and starts jingling a bell when it’s time for their short (but totally adorable) commute home.
See how they all stop and wait their turn instead of pushing their fellow guinea pigs out of the way? No rush, no confusion, no stress. In the end, they all arrive home peacefully to snuggle in their bed of hay together.
That’s how it should be, right?
