Jewelry acts as the last finishing touches to our outfits, and while many of us opt for simple, subtle accessories, there are also the bright and colorful statement pieces that add a whole lot of pizzazz to our look.

Japanese artist Mariko Kusumoto creates jewelry that could be described as something in-between. While her handmade creations are large and multicolored, they are simultaneously endowed with delicate, ephemeral qualities of the translucent fabric used to make them.

Kusumoto says of her jewelry:

Kusumoto looks to the ocean for ideas, and her sea-inspired jewelry takes form when she heats the delicate polyester fabric until it holds the shape she desires. Many of the shapes are orbs that contain playful, equally delicate sculptures inside.
