Starbucks fans who travel often make it a point to buy souvenirs specific to the area they visited. Of course, Japan is no exception, with special edition tumblers and mugs unique to Tokyo, Kyoto, Yokohama, Okinawa, and other cities, along with the Mt. Fuji-themed "You Are Here" mug for Japan.
However, now there's another souvenir unique to Starbucks Japan: A notebook series with an Earth-friendly focus as it is made with recycled Starbucks milk cartons.
"Starbucks Campus Ring-Lined Notebook"
The result of a collaboration between Starbucks Japan and famous stationery and supplies company Kokuyo, these notebooks are a specially branded version of the ubiquitous Campus Notebook series, found in stationery stores and even convenience stores all around Japan, and a favorite at schools and universities.

Ever since 2010, Starbucks Coffee Japan Co., Ltd. has been collecting the over 1,000 tons of milk cartons used by its stores every year. They wash each one carefully, fold them up compactly and recycle them. For this special "Starbucks Campus Ring-Lined Notebook" series, Kokuyo used this recycled paper sourced primarily from milk cartons in the cover and back of the notebook.
To show their commitment to a sustainable society, Starbucks wanted the cover illustration to tell the story of the cartons' recycling process. The notebooks are even designed so that the plastic rings can be easily detached from the notebook for separate recycling.
If you'd like to learn more about the notebooks and the recycling process, please visit this special page at Kokuyo's website here (in Japanese).
Colors
The "Starbucks Campus Ring-Lined Notebook" series come in five colors: standard white, and series-limited gray-blue, pink, khaki and gray.
