Nizi Project is an audition show similar to the big hit program “ASAYAN” who’s mission is to create a group similar to a Rainbow. Therefore the name Nizi (taken from the Japanese word “虹”/niji which translates as Rainbow).
The show was supposed to air last year in October but had to be pushed to January 2020 and it is an audition program produced by JYP Entertainment and Sony Music Japan.
The 26 members selected from Japan are training for six months while surviving the hard auditions so they can be able to make their debut in a new Japanese girl group.
The trainees who passed will be chosen by JYP in April and another season will follow them up to the group’s debut set for November, this year.
On March 27, the final episode of the first season came to an end.
The show can be watched on Hulu and even though now we know our 14 finalists, a Japanese show gave some spoilers before they were officially announced and three of the lineup members were “unofficially” confirmed.
The three were Yamaguchi Mako, Yokoi Rima, and Nina Hillman.
As the finalists are now announced, they will move to Korea for official training during the 2nd season of the show.
Between the contestants preferred to win, Mako showed amazing skills during the whole audition in terms of singing, dancing, and leadership.
Rima, on the other hand, stands up for her rapper skills and also for being trilingual in Korean, English, and Japanese.
She is also the second daughter of Zeebra, a leading artist and figure in the Japanese hip-hop world, also a former member of the King Giddra group.
Nina is one of the youngest and although she needs more work with her dancing, she has a powerful, yet the beautiful voice that even the JYP CEO Park Jin-young praised during the auditions.
Below is the final list of the 14 members who will be going to Korea in the second season of Nizi Project:
