Sushi comes in all shapes and sizes. From the Americanized California Roll, to raw horsemeat and even whale, the traditional Japanese food offers something for everyone’s tastes.
But to close out 2020, Kenta (@kenta_zc6) and his family tried out something new.
He posted his family’s original sushi creations on Twitter and they’ve become quite the hit.
It seems that his son is quite a fan of ikura (salmon caviar). He loves the way the little orange eggs melt in his mouth.
Instead of topping a nori-wrapped rice ball with a sticky pile of ikura, they brought the ikura back to life.
If you’re a Hayao Miyazaki fan, you might recognize this creature as the gigantic Ohmu from Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind.

With nori seaweed skin and bulging ikura eyes, it’s a near replica.
Twitter users commented that while Ohmu’s eyes are blue, they turn red when angry. I hope Kenta’s boy had the courage to down this monster.
As if this wasn’t enough, Kenta’s son was in for another surprise once he finished his “Ohmu Roll.”

I’m not sure which one is more intimidating, but I’d have to go with the King-Sized Ikura…
You’d normally fit 3 or 4 pieces of sushi on the palm of your hand, but this one covers the whole palm.
Too bad we didn’t get to see Kenta’s son’s reaction.
