Life changes can be stressful. Even positive additions to our day-to-day—a new apartment or a new child—can be the source of a lot of adjustments, each coming with its own learning curve.
On the other hand, however, some times its necessary to simply move on. Twitter user Maruchan (@sabakan01417) just changed her job. She left the field of nursing to become an office worker and shared her experience of this change on Twitter:
"[What’s been surprising about changing from a nurse to an office worker]
I can consult my supervisors without feeling anxious.
When I ask them a question, they respond politely.
When I say 'Hi,' my supervisors actually greet me and look me in the eye.
I can drink coffee while working.
My coworkers don’t rush. We even have time to chat.
Nobody dies here.”
Her followers reacted to her observations:
"In my case, I became a nurse after being an office worker… But I quit after two months.”
“I don’t want to be a nurse.”
“I know that being a nurse can test your resolve… Also, you sometimes have to work the graveyard shift.”
“I totally understand. I became a nurse after being an office worker. I thought I joined a group of vixens. I became depressed, and finally, I had to stop working as a nurse. I don’t know how that type of women works together. Most nurses aren’t very nice!”
“I’m working as a nurse. When I start to ask my supervisor something, she says ‘What?’ and mocks me even though I haven’t even asked anything yet… Please mention this too.”
“Wait, are you sure this often happens to nurses at work...it’s too scary...”
“How nice. I want to quite being a nurse and become an office worker too.”
“What a cruel world.”
Unfortunately, the grueling nature of such an important job seems to have created a terrible working environment.
Time for a change
