Koinobori carp streamer chocolates by Tirol are a fun way of celebrating Children’s Day
As a self-proclaimed Montblanc queen, this Montblanc specialty pudding store in Shinjuku seems like my idea of heaven. Kurinohana, which opened up in March of this year, has become quite the hot topic on social media, and has had Montblanc fans drooling ever since.
Whilst Montblanc can be enjoyed year round, the cakes reach their peak production around late summer through to autumn, during the height of chestnut season (the best season, at least for food, in my personal opinion).
As we turn the corner into autumn, cake stores across the country are upping their selections of Montblanc cakes. But unlike most cake stores, Kurinohana has gone a step further, and is introducing a new menu of unique flavoured Montblanc to be enjoyed in store.
The special menu, which consists of a chocolate mint cheesecake flavour Montblanc and three different versions of frozen Montblanc, will be available in store for a limited period until the beginning of September. The end date is yet to be confirmed, but when it is decided upon, the date will be shared on the official instagram account.
Chocolate Mint Cheesecake Montblanc – 880 yen
If, even as the season draws to an end and temperatures begin to ease, you’re still feeling the summer heat then the first in the lineup – Chocolate Mint Cheesecake Montblanc – should be your go to!
East meets West in this Montblanc as white bean paste is kneaded alongside fresh cacao into a rare cheese cake. Each bite is accompanied by the refreshing taste of mint syrup, as well as a little bit of a crunch from crushed oreos.
For the ultimate chocolate mint collection, Kurinohana recommends pairing this dish with a chocolate mint drink.
As for me, I’m not the biggest fan of mixing chocolate with mint, so instead I’ll be opting for one of the following from Kurinohana’s limited time menu...
Three types of Frozen Montblanc: Vanilla, Chocolate and Matcha – 880 yen each
With three flavours to choose from, it’s going to be hard for me to pick one of these frozen Montblanc desserts.
As a lifelong chocoholic, the chocolate flavour speaks to my heart, but as a recent matcha convert I’m also considering ordering the matcha flavour to curb my newly found green cravings, and of course, as a Montblanc queen, I would be more than happy to chomp down on the original vanilla flavoured montblanc.
Perhaps I’ll just order all three.
These special Montblanc desserts will be available at Kurinohana until the beginning of September, when a new Montblanc lineup will be added to the store’s menu – something I’ll be keeping an eye out on!
