Talented Japanese creator albERich (@alberichnui) specializes in plush toys of real animals and creatures from fantasy worlds.

One of their recent creations, which they intend to make available at the upcoming Design Festa 54 in November, has been buzzing on social media, and it's not hard to see why:

In addition to regular plush toys, albERich creates "puppet" versions that can be operated by hand. It seems that their canine plush puppets have been particularly popular. Here's what the fox version of the series looks like in the hands of a skilled puppeteer:

"Here's my latest work. I've updated my series of canines that always surprise passers-by! It took me three years to find materials sturdy enough to withstand regular use but I finally reached the quality I wanted and now this furbaby is ready to be welcomed into a new home. I intend to put a wolf version and several others up for adoption at Design Festa."

The cute and lifelike puppet, combined with the artist's masterful puppeteering, elicited many comments, both in Japanese and English, such as:

  • "It's so real! The way it moves looks authentic, just like a real fox!" (translated)
  • "The way its front paws move a bit when it shakes its head makes it look more real, and so cute!" (translated)
  • "So adorable! I want to adopt the white fox or the wolf one!" (translated)
  • "OMG!This is soooo cute!" (original English)
  • " *melts* what an adorable critter" (original English)

According to subsequent tweets by albERich, these creations feature eco-fur made with acrylic fibers. The price is still under consideration but will be announced before Design Festa. In addition to this fox version, the artist intends to have two wolf versions and one white fox version at their booth.
