The Gundam franchise is so popular in Japan that it has various cafes themed around the characters from the series. Fans are in for a treat this fall, as they’ve just announced a special event for autumn 2021 at Gundam Cafe Tokyo Brand Core.
It’s called ‘Gundam Cafe Costume Collection’ since the event is based on a massive poll taken of Gundam fans, in which they chose which characters they would like to see in uniform decorating the cafe.
The six characters chosen are from various iterations of the series. The characters are Amuro Ray, Quattro Bajeena, Garma Zabi, Shiro Amada, Banagher Links and Hathaway Noa. There are life-size cutouts hanging around the entrance and cash register to make it seem as if they are greeting the customers at the cafe.
Some additions to the menu have come along with these popular ‘servers’, taken straight out of scenes from the anime.
Looking at the side-by-side comparisons you can see they tried to create the exact meals and bring them into real life.
So you may be a while off piloting a Gundam yourself, but at least you can eat like a Gundam pilot.
There’s even drinks inspired by beverages drank by characters in the show.
While the full event is only at Gundam Cafe Tokyo Brand Core, some of the character drinks are available at Gundam Square, Gundam Cafe Odaiba, and Gundam Cafe Fukuoka.
The event will be going on until 30th November 2021, and you can check out the Gundam Cafe website for the full menu.
