When you have an accident on your bicycle, the first thing you're worried about is seeing if you've sustained any serious injures. When M16A HAYABUSA (@M16A_hayabusa) had a surprise collision while riding his bike, however, he and thousands others on Twitter may have been more worried about an ominous sing of things to come.

M16A HAYABUSA says he had just finished shopping and was headed home when he was struct by a an incomprehensible turn of events. With the caption

"I panicked and fell on my bicycle. It took me a few dozen seconds to comprehend the situation"

, he shared an image of the aftermath of the mystifying scene to Twitter--which both explains and complicates things further at the same time.

On his ride home, M16A HAYABUSA's bike derailed when he was struck in the head:

As you can see, what his M16A HAYABUSA in the head was a fish! Obviously, he was quite taken aback by how such a thing could happen and took some time to try and piece things together. Fortunately he was wearing a helmet and unharmed, but apparently bodily fluid from the fish leaked into a gap in his helmet and cursed him with a fishy fragrance for the rest of the day.

Obviously, many were perplexed by this bewildering occurrence and expressed that in replies to the now viral Tweet.

"Fish falling from the sky? This must be the fafrotskies phenomenon!"

"Is this an omen of the end of times?"

"I would have had to do a double-no, a five-time check to try and figure this out."

"How surreal. He must have been shocked!"

"A fish?! Just what the hell happened!"

So what happened? According to M16A HAYABUSA, the fish appeared to be a crucian carp, and near the road he was cycling on is a stream where several of them swim. It seems highly likely that a bird inadvertently dropped the fish while it was carrying it after a catch. Although it certainly could be the sign of something else...

Either way, it just goes to show you the value of a helmet, as they can protect you from both crashes and fish that randomly fall out of the sky!
