Today, October 11th, 2022, the Twitter account of Weekly Shonen Jump announced that manga artist 冨樫義博 Yoshihiro Togashi's long-running manga HUNTER×HUNTER will finally resume serialization in Issue 47, 2022, to be published on October 24th (JST). Since it was last published in Issue 52, 2018, this will mark an end to a nearly 4-year hiatus.
Thanks to the appeal of the protagonist Gon and other unique characters, the fierce battles making use of various abilities, and the unpredictable storyline, the series has gained international popularity.
HUNTER×HUNTER, which has been serialized in the magazine since 1998, is famous for undergoing numerous periods of hiatus. Togashi revealed that he had been suffering from back pain for many years, so fans had been praying for his recovery while waiting to read more.
Rumors about the resumption of the series began in May, 2022, when Togashi opened a Twitter account and began reporting on the progress of his manga manuscripts.
Then on September 20th, 2022, fans knew that the wait was finally coming to an end when Weekly Shonen Jump announced that the 37th compiled book volume would be published on November 4th, 2022. But now, fans are overjoyed to know the actual date when they can read a new chapter.
Fans all over the world haven't been shy in expressing their joy over the news, leaving comments such as: "I've been waiting for it for so long!" and "I'm so happy, I'm crying..."
