The name “tsum tsum” comes from the Japanese verb “to stack”, and the game is based on popular Disney characters. The designed characters are stacked up on top of each other, forming a pyramid, similar to claw cranes that you usually see in shopping malls, bowling alleys, and especially arcade game stores.
The game got so popular with their cute-chubby design, it sold 1.8 million stuffed toys in Japan.
With American comic book giant Marvel now owned by Disney, LINE Corporation will be adding Marvel’s superhero characters into Tsum Tsum. It would not be a surprise to see cute-chubby marvel stuffed toys in the market soon. As you can see from the promotion pictures, it features Avengers Iron man, Hulk, Thor, and Spider-Man.
The release date has not been confirmed yet, but it is scheduled to be released next spring.
