Jan Brown, also known as Knitty Jan, is a 52-year-old mom from Seaburn, UK who has been knitting sweaters for greyhounds and whippets since 2008.
It all began when she started knitting sweaters for abandoned greyhounds at the Greyhound Rescue Northeast shelter. Her passion grew, along with demand for her creations, and she eventually decided to quit her job to knit greyhound sweaters full-time.
Needless to say, she has made many greyhounds very happy.

“I can’t think of anything I would rather do than knit woolly clothing for dogs,” Brown told the Metro. “I have spent over 4,000 hours knitting but it’s all worthwhile when I see them sporting their new jumpers and hats.”
She also explained that because greyhounds have very thin fur, they are more sensitive to the cold during winter. Their ears can freeze easily as well, and even though not all greyhounds enjoy wearing hats, the knits can protect them from harsh weather.
