Japanese manga’s existence is magnificently strong around the world. Most of the stories mainly revolve around the importance of friendship. For example, if your friend is in danger or being bullied, it is time for you to step up and protect your buddy at all cost! Well, the strong brotherhood concept doesn’t just come from mid-air, it has long existed since the first Japanese manga- Chōjū-giga scrolls, or Scrolls of frolicking animals, which is currently being stored in Kyoto's Konzan-ji temple as a national treasure.

The Chōjū-giga scrolls’s drawing style is in Japanese traditional painting, with rabbits, monkeys, frogs and other animal characters fooling around with each other like you do with your best friends. The interaction is simply sweet and caring, and Studio Ghibli, who produced the anime Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro, recreated this old manga into a cute live animation.
