Capybaras are known in Japan for their love of soaking in the hot springs during the cold season, and the staff at Shizuoka Prefecture's Izu Shaboten Zoo are finally bringing the baths out for the animals to spend their much-anticipated winter vacation in. From November 19th, 2016 to April 9th, 2017, park guests will be able to see the capybaras leisure in their own little outdoor baths.

This winter event has been a tradition at Izu Shaboten Zoo since 1982, and both guests and capybaras wait months for this adorable time of year. Capybaras will be let out into the hot springs once a day on weekdays (and twice a day during weekends and holidays) to get some much deserved sun and relaxation. It will be an exciting season for capybara lovers, as there will also be collaborative events with the popular character Kapibarasan, including a Kapibmrasan-themed food menu at the facility's restaurant!
