To effectively promote Japanese food culture to foreigners, the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is now tapping into the appeal of popular vocaloid Hatsune Miku. The virtual superstar might seem an odd choice to promote local Japanese specialties, but perhaps her animated enthusiasm is the perfect way to get visitors to Japan to think beyond sushi and sashimi!
