Noname-chan (pronounced "no-na-mé-chan") is a costumed character with a psychedelic fashion sense, beautifully sparkling eyes and a passion for fashion and music.

Produced by miyako, who garnered international attention last year with her ishoku hada gyaru 異色肌ギャル fashion (which can be translated as "unique skin" or "other skin"), Noname-chan was revealed to the world on May 17th when she launched her Twitter account.

While much about Noname-chan is still veiled in mystery, we were able to ask her producer miyako a few questions:

miyako: The purpose of her activities is to be a happy presence and a fashion model.

gJ: Noname-chan is very colorful. Her look is quite psychedelic. Is there a reason she’s attracted to rainbow colors?
miyako: Noname-chan is like a prism, so that’s why I think she likes rainbows.

gJ: On her Twitter account, Noname-chan mentions house and future house. Is that what she mainly listens to?
miyako: Yes, she mainly listens to house but she also listens to other genres!

gJ: Noname-chan is often seen wearing headphones. Does she have a favorite brand?
miyako: Yes, she likes Skullcandy.

gJ: Noname-chan contains the words “no name” in English. Is that intentional?
miyako: I’ll leave that to your imagination.

gJ: Is Noname-chan human, alien, or …
miyako: She’s a character with a real-time personality.

gJ: Can Noname-chan speak with her own voice?
miyako: One day, she’ll speak.
