Sekai no Owari ni Shiba Inu to 世界の終わりに柴犬と (literally, "Together with my Shiba inu at the end of the world") is Japanese manga artist Yū Ishihara's popular project about a high school girl and her talking Shiba inu dogs in a post-apocalyptic world. Officially available in collected form on Comic Walker and NicoNico Seiga, Ishihara releases his manga first here on his Twitter account.
Ishihara's posts are interspersed with his manga and pictures of his real-life canine partner, which obviously grants credibility to his work. While his manga tweets consistently receive thousands of likes and retweets, one of his most recent episodes, featuring an encounter between the Shibas (now three of them) and a pack of Western breed dogs, was particularly popular, garnering over 135,000 likes and 47,000 retweets at the time of writing.
We reached out to the author, who graciously granted us permission to translate the two-page episode (and this episode alone) into English for the purpose of introducing it to our readers. (Click or tap on the images below to see them in larger size):
