It’s easy to forget when enjoying the immersive Wizarding World of Harry Potter, exactly how much work goes into creating the fantasy, and how many unsung heroes worked behind the scenes.
One team which you may not have heard of, but whose work will be instantly recognisable to you is the designer duo known as MinaLima.
The designs and typography of MinaLima have played a vital role in forming the Harry Potter universe as we know it today. Their creative works were seen in abundance at the official Wizarding World of Harry Potter cafes.
Exciting news for Potterheads in Japan, the pair’s enchanting merchandise is coming to Osaka for a year-long pop up shop.
Osaka is also home to Universal Studios Japan so any muggles on a pilgrimage to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park can pop into this officially licensed shop too.
There’s already a ‘House of MinaLima’ store in London, and the shop front, which was shared on Twitter by the official Japanese Fantastic Beasts account, looks thoroughly magical.
One member of MinaLima, Miraphora Mina, is even responsible for the Hogwarts acceptance letter that Harry receives in the very first film, and the iconic envelope is used as a motif in the window dressing. Along with spellbooks and other fantastical items, the letters are suspended in mid-air as though they are whizzing around the shop.
Not just Harry Potter themed merchandise, the team have many other imaginative designs to check out at the store, including their gorgeously illustrated ‘Collective Nouns’ series.
House of MinaLima Osaka is open from today.
