Although the general consensus is that phone boxes are now obsolete, a cute cat can make anything a viral hit.

Despite not often being used to actually call people anymore, the phone boxes in Japan, in their distinctive green, are the perfect prop for a retro photoshoot. This cat was spotted sneaking into a phone box to have a nap in the sun by Japanese photographer, @chacha_nene_jp.

Perhaps it’s the dusky sunlight, or the vintage vibes of the phone box, but there’s something consoling, and almost nostalgic, about this photo set of a cat chilling in the otherwise hardly used relic.

Previously, a Japanese phone box was also used as an art piece. It was sealed up and filled with water so it could become a nice home for fish. However, the same idea was carried out in two different locations by two different people leading to a legal battle. I think we can all agree that the more peaceful option is to let all phone boxes become napping locations for cats!
