The Jazz Yokan was created over six years ago by CREEKS., a general merchandise store, cafe and gallery in the Yufuin District of Oita Prefecture. A harmonious fusion of East and West, it brings together the traditional Japanese bean paste confection known as yōkan 羊羹 and Western confection elements such as spices and wine-marinated figs, topping it with an artfully rendered piano keyboard design, as you can see from their promotional video below:
Valentine's Day versions
While the classic version of "Jazz Yokan" has been a hit for many years, the shop has now created a new version for Valentine's season 2020, matcha chocolate.
Jazz Yokan Chocolat & Jazz Yokan Matcha Chocolat
Why not sample both of them?
Jazz Yokan Chocolat has a white bean paste yokan base with a couverture chocolate coating and contains dried cherries, figs and raisins, while the new Jazz Yokan Matcha Chocolat replaces dried fruits with a luxurious paste made of prized Dainagon azuki beans, to which are added a layer of matcha and chocolate bean paste. For the first time in the Jazz Yokan series, the keyboard is rendered to look like a harpsichord with keys made of chocolate yokan. Finally, whole Dainagon beans are added as an accent.

You can eat these chocolaty Jazz Yokan bars with a spoon, but they look particularly elegant and may even last longer if you serve them in slices.
