Neon Genesis Evangelion is a world-famous animation series first broadcast on TV in 1995. Set in the wake of Second Impact, an unprecedented global catastrophe, it depicts a battle between a 14-year-old boy and girl who became pilots of the humanoid battle weapon Evangelion and mysterious enemies known as Angels.
Evangelion was met with wide acclaim upon release, commended for its stylish imagery and complex storylines, which transcended the boundaries of anime.
