Komeda’s Coffee (コメダ珈琲店 / Komeda kōhī-ten) is a café chain in Japan, established in Nagoya, around 1968.

The coffee shops are spread all over Japan, and the company has its headquarters in Aichi Prefecture.

The cafe has a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere, is also spacious, and has plenty of food choices and coffee blends available on the menu.

It somehow reminds me of the family restaurants in Japan. However, I find it quite nice and cozy.

Komeda is well-known for its tasty desserts, especially for their Shiro-Noir, a Danish pastry topped with soft cream.

It has a crunchy texture on the outside, yet it is soft on the inside.

The Shiro-Noir got so popular that it managed to surpass the other Komeda desserts. Now, it is the signature dish of the café and one of the most ordered sweets from the shop.

The name of Shiro ("white" in Japanese) and Noir ("black" in French) is related to the white, soft cream on the top of the pastry but also has as concept opposite words.

Every year, Komeda comes up with seasonal or limited-time items on their menu, and starting from the 3rd of March, 2021, they will release the Shiro-Noir Fromage Berry.

The new limited dessert will be on sale all over Japan, and it will be a delight for cheese and sweets lovers.

The cream Fromage sandwiched inside the Danish pastry gives it a smoother and creamier texture than ever.

The soft-serve ice cream has plenty of blueberry sauce as a topping, which gives it a colorful and spring-like look, but it will also give the dessert a refreshing sweet-sour flavor.

Shiro-Noir Fromage Berry has made its appearance just in time for the upcoming season.

You can opt for either a regular or a mini-size version of the tasty pastry.

You can get the regular size for 750 to 770 yen (tax included) or the mini size for 550 to 570 yen (tax included), depending on the store.

The product is scheduled to be on sale until late April 2021.

Besides the desserts, I also recommend their sandwiches, especially the Egg Sandwich on Toast (610 yen). The toast also matches perfectly with the traditional Komeda Coffee Blend (440 yen).

They also have a morning service every day until 11 a.m. If you order a drink by 11 a.m., you get a slice of toast and one of the three "morning sets" available (A, B, or C).

The A set contains a hard-boiled egg, and the B set is a home-made egg salad to spread on your toast. Lastly, the C set has Nagoya’s famous sweet azuki bean paste (Ogura-an).

You can see more information about the menu and the café shop on the Komeda Official Website.
