One of the Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony's highlights was an amusing and fast-paced performance by silent comedy artist HIRO-PON reenacting the pictograms of 50 competitions over 33 Olympic sports.
The performance delighted audiences both in Japan and abroad, and it also inspired one Japanese Twitter user by the name of よんてんごP YontengoP (@yontengoP). He decided to run with the pictogram concept and apply it to a field he was more familiar with, the Japanese IT industry.
Already in his opening volley, the first post of which garnered nearly 28,000 likes and over 8,700 retweets at the time of writing, you can get a feel for his sense of humor:
"It's the perfect occasion, so I thought I'd make pictograms for the IT industry's 50 competitive events...
...but then I realized that these two pictograms basically cover everything:"

In fact, the opportunity was too good to leave it at just two pictograms, so he decided to give a more nuanced picture of the IT industry with more specific situations.
A few more pictograms followed the same afternoon:

His pictograms poke fun at some of the trials and tribulations common to the IT industry. Some of them deal with elements specific to Japanese culture, but most of them are universally recognizable.
