The supernatural action/horror manga 呪術回線 Jujutsu Kaisen, illustrated by Gege Akutami, continues to rise in popularity, thanks in part to the anime adaptation by MAPPA which premiered in Japan in October, 2020.

In addition to the exciting story and masterfully-handled animation directed by Sunghoo Park and written by Hiroshi Seko, praise has also been directed at the excellent ending sequence animated by Yuki Igarashi. Set to ALI's groovy track "Lost in Paradise feat. AKLO," it mostly features the main characters Yūji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Satoru Gojō, and Nobara Kugisaki dancing and happily going about their daily activities.

On their YouTube channel, 名曲メイキャップ Meikyoku Makeup describes their style as taking meikyoku (famous or excellent songs), and "giving them some makeup to create videos that will make you chuckle."

Based on their latest video which has now gone viral, it would seem they succeeded in doing just that. In a hilarious parody, the video imagines the comedian Egashira 2:50, famous for his occasionally lewd and often shocking physical gags sometimes relying on his contortionism skills, literally taking over the action in the abovementioned Jujutsu Kaisen ending sequence.

Those who are already familiar with Egashira 2:50 and his unique repertoire of gags will appreciate the humor at first viewing. If you aren't, grape Japan previously reviewed a series of capsule toy mascots illustrating his most famous gags, so we recommend you take a quick look before you view the video below.

Entitled "『呪術廻戦』EDをエガちゃんが踊ってみた/JUJUTSU KAISEN ENDING 江頭2:50Version", which translates as "Ega-chan tried dancing to the Jujutsu Kaisen ED," Egashira 2:50 (AKA Ega-chan) basically replaces most of the characters in the ending animation sequence.

First Yūji's scenes, then Megumi's, even Gojō-Sensei's scenes aren't spared from the Ega-chan treatment. A light warning for die-hard fans of either of the three: try not to be too upset with Ega-chan for desecrating the image of your favorite character and remember it's just for laughs. As for Nobara's scene, let's just say some viewers may wonder why she didn't reach for her hammer and nails. All in all, the video captures the controversial comedian's brand of transgressive humor while also showing appreciation for Jujutsu Kaisen and this popular ending sequence.

Some of the comments the video elicited on Twitter were:

  • "This is a genius! I really want this video (lol)..."
  • "I laughed so hard. I think you're a genius (...)"
  • "What did I just see? (lol) This is awesome!"
  • "Even though I always watch this stylish ending animation, Ega-chan made me crack up. It's so good and so bad at the same time (lol)... and stylish!"
  • "Nobara, run! Run away! (lol)"
