I don’t know about you but during the summer my body does a complete 180 and replaces it’s cravings for heavy foods for lighter options like freshly squeezed smoothies, crunchy salads and tart-tasting fruits. That doesn’t mean to say that I don’t still crave all the wrong things, so every now and then I’ll allow myself a little bit of leeway so I can enjoy something super sweet and savoury without throwing my personal dietary preferences under the bus.
Made with natural ingredients and sweetened with unprocessed sugars, plant-based alternatives are a great way to enjoy a touch of sugar without going overboard.
When you hear the words ‘plant-based’ your mind probably wanders over to buddha bowls jam-packed with so many greens they’re almost too healthy to even stomach, but the truth is, ‘plant-based’ alternatives are even available as ‘healthy junk food’ options too!
Now, I know what you are thinking, how on earth can you describe junk food as being healthy? But that’s exactly the concept driving Japanese plant-based food brand 2foods, and the idea behind their 2021 summer donuts lineup.

Headquartered in Shibuya, 2foods focuses on creating ‘healthy junk food’ that supports an ethical environmentally friendly society. The goal is to create ‘yummy’ foods that are beautiful, feature an appealing aroma, are affordably priced and are addictive in a good way.
This summer, the brand has released 3 new plant-based donuts that are designed to bring you over to the plant side.
