A dorayaki is a type of Japanese sweet that’s simple but beloved by many across the country. It’s typically made with two pancake-like mini cakes with a sweet red bean paste filling between them. You can spot them alongside other types of wagashi in shops that specialize in traditional Japanese sweets.
There are plenty of varieties of dorayaki with differences in the filling or flavors being used. They can also sometimes be sold with cute designs, such as the new Neko Dorayaki from Ikumimama.
The person behind Ikumimama is Ikumi Nakao, and her shop’s specialty of animal doughnuts has gained popularity in Japanese social media. These doughnuts are the epitome of cute food, and her foray into a different type of sweet keeps the same signature cuteness found in her other products.
The Neko Dorayaki is made using ingredients without any additives, most of which were locally produced in Japan. One box comes with six Neko Dorayaki and is priced at 2,600 yen. You can order them online within Japan through Ikumimama’s website. You can also find more information about the store and their products through their homepage.
