Nibble on these cute Japanese rabbit manjū cakes for 2023!
‘Tabemasu’ is a Japanese sweets brand which specialises in making traditional Japanese sweet (or wagashi) versions of popular characters. They’ve teamed up with companies such as Sanrio, San-X and even Disney for their super detailed and tasty offerings.
Often they use ‘nerikiri’, a type of sweet which is exceedingly mouldable, to create full body versions of characters, but for these latest treats, they’ve switched track to the ever-popular mochi.
Thanks to the round shape and squishy texture, mochi is the perfect wagashi to decorate with characters’ faces. The characters which have been chosen for this lineup are Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Winnie the Pooh, and Piglet.
The Duck couple come in one double set, and this is the first time these characters are appearing in Tabemasu’s mochi series. Donald has a custard flavoured filling, while Daisy is peach flavour.
Winnie the Pooh and Piglet also come as a pair. Pooh has a maple filling and pink Piglet has a strawberry flavour one.
Each character also has various facial expressions, such as a wink or heart-eyes.
There's four for each character, so Disney lovers can collect the whole set.
These super cute sweets can be found in the chilled sweets section of 7-Eleven branches all over Japan for 280 yen a set.
