There’s no better time to make adjustments than around the changing of the seasons, and at kawara CAFE & KITCHEN Kichijoji, that’s exactly what they’re doing with their redeveloped sweets menu – which is made up of a lineup of dishes inspired by traditional Japanese flavours.
The new menu uses a variety of teas and harvest produce which are at their peak right now in the midst of the Autumn season. It also features pancakes made with rice flour, which is famed for creating light and fluffy textured doughs.
Two types of tea-flavoured rice flour pancakes – 1,450 yen
Thanks to the use of rice flour, this plate of pancakes will transport your taste buds to foodie heaven with it’s perfectly cloudlike texture; and with grounded green tea and roasted hojicha tea leaves pounded into the mixture, the taste can’t get much more authentically Japanese than this.
Accompanied by jugs of orange and strawberry sauce – which are available for you to pour at your own pleasure – this dish is bursting with a mixture of flavours that are sure to be a crowd pleaser.
Matcha canelé and Tea Set / Hojicha canelé and Tea set – 880 yen each
With this great value set you can pair your favourite tea from six different varieties with your choice of Matcha or Hojicha canelé. Both canelé’s are made using real domestic tea leaves, and are the perfect choice for those who enjoy the classic combination of sweets and teas.
Montblanc Muffin available in three different flavours – 900 yen each
Available in three different flavours; “Strawberry x Cheese x Tea”, “Pumpkin x Banana x Caramel” and “Chocolate x Chestnut x Nuts”, this selection of montblanc-topped muffins will make your inner sweet-toothed-monster say “WOW!”. All three muffins come dripping with cheese-flavoured cream, a helping of squeezed montblanc paste and freshly prepared toppings of chestnut, strawberry or pumpkin.
