It can sometimes be strange to use the term "just like an anime" when talking about locations in Japan, because many anime are set...in Japan, but skilled Kyoto-based photographer Shota (Twitter, Instagram) captures such beautiful scenery around the country you can't help but wonder if they are anime stills brought to life.
Shota's photography focuses on colorful skylines and warming scenery that he describes as fitting the aesthetic of "inverted worlds" or "anime-esque". A recent series of gorgeous photos Shota shared on Twitter with the caption "everyday scenes where you can feel Studio Ghibli" has been wowing many online. As you can see, the description is very fitting as the photos look like backdrops that would fit right in the beloved animation studio's classic films.

The four photos feature a port town, a local shrine's torii gate, a lush green trail, and a bike parked on a sunset-lit road that could easily be introduction shots to a magical and charming Studio Ghibli scene.
Many in the replies to Shota's have commented on the anime-like nature of his captivating shots, and with an appreciation of how looking at everyday scenery around the country can have a nostalgic charm, such as they've seen animated.
