Tokyo Prepares For A Bigger Life-Size Gundam Coming This Fall
The world of "Gunpla" (a portmanteau of "Gundam" and "plastic model") Mobile Suit Gundam models in Japan is filled with talented hobbyists. We've seen many model and figure kits assembled and painted with skill that really makes it seem like they've been transported right out of the world of the iconic anime.
Japanese Twitter user and hobbyist YOGO (@yg45yg) may stand out even among the best, however. YOGO doesn't simply craft intricate Gundam figures, but does so using LEGO!
YOGO's latest work may be considered a LEGO Gundam masterpiece, as it's an amazing LEGO model of the MS-09R-2 Rick Dom II from Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory.

The elaborate 1/35 scale figure stands at 53cm tall (75cm including the massive bazooka) looks great from any angle, and took four months to craft.

The armor parts are detachable, and the mono-eye and other parts glow with LEGO LEDs for a truly imposing look.

The model is based off an already amazingly detailed illustration by Tosashin (@tosashin1028), a Mobile Suit illustrator.
The LEGO Gundam model is made all the more mind-blowing when you watch a video of its mechanisms in action.
YOGO has made plenty of awesome LEGO figures in the past as well. Here's a few standout works they've made. You can check out more of their awesome work by following on Twitter.
