Ryohei Hase is a freelance illustrator and artist based in Tokyo. His work explores a dark and surreal world, combining creepy hybrid creatures with stunningly beautiful artwork to deliver his thematic message. He explains on his website, "My theme of paintings is to express the darkness of mind, which is sad and gloomy bu at the same time, it's beautiful and strong."
His gorgeous artwork seems to tackle themes of inner conflict and melancholy, and the frightening characters he has crafted give this world of suffering a "can't look away" sense of beauty. Digital prints of his work are available on his website, as are a look at his previous work. Be sure to check it out and follow him!
