The wait is almost over: Death Note: Light up the NEW world will be released in theaters this October 29th. Of course, new cast members will star in this newest film, but we'll also see some of the original cast — including the return of Light’s companion Misamisa.
Undercover detector “L” (real name L Lawliet), who fans will know as having beyond-human intelligence, has also accepted the offer to be part of the exciting new Death Note movie.
Kenichi Matsuyama, who will be back in the role of "L," said upon announcement of the movie, "It’s been a long time, and having another chance to act as L is an enormous pleasure."
To jog the memories of the audience, L will make a 3-minute appearance in the movie for a brief recap of past movies. Not long indeed, but it will still offer a big impact to integrate the whole storyline. The new Death Note story will center around L’s successor Ryuzaki, known as a brilliant detector that is going to carry on L’s posthumous message to defeat anyone who uses the similar killing techniques of the Death Note.
