Chris Broad of Abroad in Japan took on the ultimate Japanese food challenge, which is none other than attempting to devour an entire bowl of monster size ramen.
YouTube
This Japanese staple dish can be found in Akihabara in a shop called Yarou Ramen, which is famous for it’s ridiculously large size.
After a defeat during his last food challenge, Chris was confident he would be victorious against his friend.
YouTube
The rules were simple: the challenger furthest in their bowl when the thirty minute mark hits gets 10,000 yen (US$88) from the loser. It may sound simple, but even Chris’s confidence was shaken when the gigantic bowls arrived at the table.
YouTube
It looked to be classic ramen noodles topped with a mountain of bean sprouts and three enormous sizes of braised pork. A single bowl may be enough to feed several people.
Chris took on the pork first while his friend tackled the bean sprouts. Even though his friend was making a faster headway towards finishing the bowl, Chris was certain that his slow and steady method would allow him to continue eating for longer.

After much stress and sweat, Abroad in Japan just couldn’t overcome the mountain of bean sprouts and once again was defeated.
