When it comes to animal cafes in Japan, cat cafes and owl cafes have become so common they’re no longer considered a particularly new or unusual concept. Still, that doesn’t change the fact that both animals are heart-meltingly adorable, and animal-lovers will gladly pay a few bucks to hang out with them for an afternoon. But at Osaka’s 3-floor cat cafe Hukulou Coffee, guests won’t have to choose between visiting one or the other, because they’ll be greeted by cats, owls, and a variety of other animals there.
The two main animal staff members at Hukulou Coffee are Fuku the owl and Marimo the cat, who just so happen to the best of friends. Lucky visitors might be able to sip their teas while watching the charming duo snuggle up to each other, or even take care of one of Marimo's 4 newly born kittens.
Open all day, the cafe is also home to a plethora of other animals including a ferret, parakeet, hedgehog, reptiles, and rabbit.
It also has a gift shop where they sell original goods like t-shirts, postcards, and photo books.
It might be worth noting that guests will need to be wearing socks to get inside, but they can also be purchased at the cafe. Reservations can be made online, and there will be a 1,000 yen (US$9.12) discount from June 19 to the 25th in celebration of Fuku and Marimo’s birthdays. Get more information on the cafe’s website.
