If there’s one word to describe Barbie in Japanese, it would probably be “kawaii.” With her fashionable clothes and enviable lifestyle that includes big houses and pink convertibles, it’s no wonder many Japanese fans look to her with a feeling close to that of admiration. This might be the reason why Barbie is popular with adults, not just kids, and why people have been flocking to the Barbie-themed Pink Holiday Cafe in droves.
The cafe, located in Yokohama, is decorated to be every Barbie-lover’s dream. Inspired by a Barbie dollhouse, the interior is pink from floor to ceiling with Barbie dolls and collectible items displayed throughout the space.
Still, Pink Holiday is a cafe, and a cafe would be nothing without delicious food and desserts. Diners can pick from a array of pink-hued dishes like curry, chocolate fondue, spaghetti, and hamburger steak. There is also a wide selection of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, as well as cute desserts to satisfy any sweet tooth.
Pink Holiday isn’t just a Barbie-themed, pretty-in pink-cafe, either. An official Mattel shop stocked with the newest Barbies, customers can even walk home with their very own doll in hand. The cafe can also be regarded as a unique museum of sorts, as it also has on display over 200 rare vintage and collector edition Barbies to marvel at over a pink-colored drink.
Customers can also put in an order for a Doll Cake, because it wouldn't be a Barbie Cafe otherwise. For anyone looking to enjoy an afternoon surrounded by "kawaii" Barbie dolls and rare items, Pink Holiday in Yokohama could be the perfect destination.
