Pikachu Outbreak is a yearly summer festival in Japan which celebrates the iconic yellow Pokemon.
Pokemon trainers from all over descend on Yokohama’s Minato Mirai area to witness Pikachu mayhem on a grand scale. This year’s event will be bigger than ever before and over 2000 Pikachu will be set loose on the port city. There will be parades, performances and surprise appearances.
But the crowds of Pikachu worshippers can be quite a hassle to fight your way through on a blistering summer’s day, which is why this year, thanks to the Pokemon Cafe, there will be a special ‘Drink and Ice Shop’ at the event.
These adorable Pikachu themed treats don’t just look adorable, but they will also hopefully help everyone cool down a bit while in the rapture of Pokemon fever.
The Pikachu Pineapple Ice Bar comes in four different cute facial expressions which are given out at random. Will you get average Pikachu, winky Pikachu, laughing Pikachu, or heart eyes Pikachu? You’ll just have to pay 500 yen to find out.
If you’re not a fan of pineapple, you can try out the Pikachu Orange Lemonade Soda for 500 yen. The main gimmick is the lid of the cup which has not only a Pikachu face, but also adorable ears sticking out.
Or you can go for Pikachu's Mango and Pineapple Tapioca Drink (bubble tea) if you have 600 yen to spare and like your beverage to have some bite.
There will be three locations at the festival from 6th to 12th August:
Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Event Space 12.00 - 20.00
Rinko Park 12.00 – 20.00
Yamashita Park 10.00 – 17.00
