Rather than genuine gore, in the land of kawaii you’re more likely to see the cuter side of Halloween. The spooky season and candy go hand in hand, and Japan is the best place to find the most adorable Halloween themed desserts and sweets.
This year, Hilton Tokyo Bay Hotel are giving you the chance to dig into as many of these cute sweets as you like at their Halloween dessert event. The theme of the event is a tea party with ghosts, hence the name of the buffet, ‘Trick or Teatime’. The hotel invites you to enjoy an elegant gothic teatime, alongside some bewitching spirits.
Appropriate for the ghostly get together, there’s plenty of black and white coloured desserts, as well as some sophisticated gothic desserts perfect for afternoon tea.
There’s also some slightly gory numbers like this bloody cake, but nothing too over the top.
As a side note, many of the sweets have been coloured black with bamboo charcoal powder which is known for its detoxing effects and is a popular ingredient among women.
If you need something savoury to offset the sweetness, there’s some non-dessert options too, making the buffet a good option for lunch. There's also an all-you-can-drink beverage bar with fifteen types of drinks.
Trick or Teatime will run from 7th September until 31st October, and will only be available on weekends and national holidays (and Halloween itself of course!). A two-hour time slot (starting at either 13.00 or 15.30) will cost 3100 yen with discounts for children. This seasonal spooky buffet is the perfect treat for Halloween lovers, as well as year-round goths!
Take a look at Hilton Tokyo Bay's hotel website for more information about the Trick or Teatime buffet.
