Enjoying parfaits at night to finish off the evening was a trend which started in Hokkaido in 2014 and is now beginning to trickle down to other parts of Japan. These Shime Parfait シメパフェ, meaning "closing parfait," can now be enjoyed in other major cities. In Tokyo, for example, we reviewed the excellent Roy to Silo, a parfait bar in Shinjuku's Kabukicho entertainment district which takes the concept even further, staying open all night long for those who yearn for delicious parfaits.
Shime Parfait in Nagoya
Nagoya may very well be the next big Shime Parfait city. Earlier this year, Hitohata Inc. established the Nagoya Parfait Promotion Council, which immediately set about identifying Nagoya shops which serve parfaits at night and encouraging others to do so as well. Through its efforts, over 13 Nagoya establishments serve Shime Parfait, and the list is rapidly growing.
We've made a selection of eight parfaits now featured on Nagoya Parfait's website, as introduced in their press release today.
1. QO cafe air
