Final Fantasy is one of the most popular game series of all time. The beloved Japanese RPG has an enduring power that keeps each installation fresh as it continues to weave fantastical storylines for us to play through.
First Ever Final Fantasy Musical
Not just games, but the series has expanded to other media such as animated movies and manga, and now it seems they are going to take a leap into the world of live-action stage musicals with an adaptation of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.
The mobile spin-off game, which was released in 2015, has been incredibly popular, racking up 40 million downloads worldwide. The magical story revolves around two warriors and a mysterious young girl, and various characters from the main series can be summoned, hopefully making them a possibility for a cameo in the musical...
Will Another Final Fantasy Game Get a Musical Too?
This isn’t the first time there has been talk of a Final Fantasy musical. According to an IGN article from 2013, Tetsuya Nomura thought about turning Final Fantasy 15 into a musical after being inspired by the movie version of Les Miserables with Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway.
Since this never came to be, starting with a mobile game adaptation may be Square Enix’s way of just dipping their jazz hands into the world of musicals to test demand, before committing to turning one of their main Final Fantasy games into a stage extravaganza.
Either way, die hard fans won't want to miss this new way to experience Final Fantasy's masterful storytelling. The cast for Brave Exvius’ musical foray is yet to be revealed, but the dates and locations of the performances have been.
