Although Disney isn’t Japanese, some of the country’s themed events and products are the envy of Disney fans all over the world. You can get beautiful Disney character inspired kimono, or even bag some adorable Disney Princess cakes, but for a more immersive culinary experience, die-hard fans should check out some of Japan’s Disney themed cafes.
Sadly these cafes are usually only temporary, like last year’s Frozen 2 cafe, or the Aladdin afternoon tea. But if you happen to catch one, you can grab some awesome dishes featuring all your favourite characters.
This latest string of pop-up cafes appearing in various Japanese cities are inspired by the classic animated film, Beauty and the Beast.
Some of the menu items use colours and motifs to express the character through food, while the others use little character standees to add some Disney magic to the dishes.
The Beauty and the Beast cream curry rice uses both yellow and blue curry to portray the clothes of the two main characters during the iconic ballroom scene.
If you want to be as strong as Gaston (but hopefully a bit more empathetic), you can go for a protein boost with the grilled chicken burger.
Or back to more romantic scenes, the cream pasta portrays the couple playing in snow during the song ‘Something There’.
The cheeky cup Chip is used as a motif for a mini version of afternoon tea with an optional scone.
The various drinks also include references to the movie and even come with a free coaster, like this beautiful rose water.
The mango smoothie is inspired by Belle.
And this yoghurt smoothie brings the Beast’s outfit to mind.
As the theme of the cafe is the Beast’s library, the merchandise sold at the cafe encapsulates the bookish nature of the main protagonist Belle with original designs created just for this event.
The cafes will appear in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya on different dates. Reservations can be made online, where you can also find the full menu with prices.
