Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water
Japanese social media has been abuzz today with news of an anime exhibition. Anime exhibitions don't always generate such attention, but this isn't just any anime.
Airing for 39 episodes from April 1990 to March 1991, "Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water" is often cited by Japanese anime fans in their late thirties or older as one of their childhood favorites. As Anno Hideaki's TV anime directorial debut, the anime inspired by the works of Jules Verne was created by NHK, Toho and Korad, based on a concept by Hayao Miyazaki.
And as Hideaki Anno fans surely know, the seminal director joined forces with character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto and Shiro Sagisu, who composed the soundtrack, on "Neon Genesis Evangelion" five years later.
Commemorating 30 years with an exhibition

Although details have yet to be revealed, the "Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water" 30th anniversary exhbition, to be held at some point in 2021, will feature many valuable materials related to program production, such as character reference drawings, key animation drawings, cells, and background art.
Moreover, according to a text provided by Movic Promote Service KK, the exhibition "can be enjoyed by both those who watched the program at the time of broadcasting and those who recently learned about Nadia as well."
Of course, fans can look forward to many exclusive commemorative goods!

“STANDARD EDITION” Blu-ray box release
In addition to the upcoming exhibition, the anime's official Twitter account also announced that the “STANDARD EDITION” Blu-ray box set will be released from King Records on December 16, 2020.
According to King Record's website, the box set will include seven discs (the same content as the previous boxed set released in 2011), and will cost 22,000 JPY.
