With June 26th just around the corner, it’s time to begin preparations for International Stitch Day.

What’s that? You didn’t know that was a thing? Well, because the grape Japan ohana matters, we’ll forgive you.

The unofficial holiday is held in honour of everybody’s favourite mischief-making blue alien – Experiment 626 aka Stitch – from 2002 Disney film ‘Lilo and Stitch’, and has been held annually on June 26th since June 2006 (are you seeing a pattern starting to form?).
Now that you know all about it, it’s probably best to make arrangements ahead of the celebration day so that you don’t miss out on all the fun.

To help get the party started, Walt Disney Japan is releasing a range of Stitch-themed home goods available in store from 8th June and in advance online from the 4th.

The lineup includes a large number of products that can be enjoyed at home, such as stuffed animals, LED garlands, fragrance gel lights, cushions, blankets, and other items that are perfect for relaxing.

This time the majority of goods will feature a motif of Stitch looking up at the night sky as if longing for a possible family somewhere up there. Stitch’s expression is a little lonely, and is different from his usual mischievous composure, as he thinks over Lilo’s words ‘Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten’.
