As an island nation resting on top of the boundary where four tectonic plates meet, Japan is no stranger to natural disasters and the darkness that they bring – both emotionally, and physically.
In most recent memory, typhoon Hagibis wreaked havoc across the nation in 2019. The extremely violent typhoon was the deadliest to hit Japan since typhoon Tip in 1979, with 98 fatalities recorded, 7 people still missing, and more than 50,000 homes throughout the country experiencing damage of varying degrees.
One of the immediate effects of Hagibis was a loss of power, which plunged more than 935,000 homes into darkness within the Kanto region alone.
The loss of electricity due to Typhoon Hagibis is an extreme example of what can happen during a natural disaster, but across the world, there are many countries and regions that live without access to electricity on a daily basis. This lack of power often experienced following disasters is the catalyst behind the development of solar light CARRY THE SUN, which aims to shine brightness into the lives of individuals across the world.

CARRY THE SUN is a solar light designed first and foremost for emergency situations, but that doesn’t mean that it has to be stored in an emergency pack at all times. In fact the light is not only compact, lightweight and durable, but it also has an attractiveness to it that can be used to accentuate the atmosphere of any home.
The exterior of CARRY THE SUN lights are made from a durable material that is woven with UV resistant threads that prevent tearing. The woven threads that provide this durability also diffuse the light into a soft brightness that isn’t overpowering.

Place a collection of the cube-shaped lights in a corner of the room for a touch of warmth in the evening, accentuate your beloved plant corner at home with the soft lights, or enjoy reading a book on your balcony long after dusk with the company of CARRY THE SUN.
The lights are also waterproof, so if you’re looking for something to add a little romantic light to your bathtub in the evening then CARRY THE SUN is the light for you.
As a wireless light source that takes up little space, CARRY THE SUN provides a little bit of sunshine all through the night without imposing too much style.

As a solar powered light, CARRY THE SUN has no need for bulky batteries or tangle-prone charging wires. Simply place the lights in direct sunlight to charge them up.
With the medium sized light, an 8 hour charge will provide 72 hours of sunshine (on the weakest setting), with the remaining charge being indicated on the medium sized lights by a flashing LED indicator. The smaller sized light needs only 5 hours of charge to provide 15 hours of brightness. The battery has a lifespan of up to 500 charges.

The most convenient point of CARRY THE SUN is how compact it is; when folded down CARRY THE SUN is only 1.2cm in thickness, and both the medium and small sizes are easily portable.
To ‘inflate’ the light, simply pull the two attached belts and it will transform into a three dimensional cube.
CARRY THE SUN can be purchased in two sizes; small and medium, with both sizes folding down to a compact flat height of 1.2cm.
The light itself is available in two basic tones; white and warm, which can be adjusted to three different levels of brightness. There is also an SOS flashing function that can be used in emergencies.
