Tokyo DisneySea, a Disney theme park located in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture, draws inspiration from stories and legends related to the sea.
"Turtle Talk" is one of the popular attractions at DisneySea because, as the name implies, it gives visitors a chance to talk to Crush, the sea turtle character from the Disney movie Finding Nemo.
If you ask him a question, he'll entertain you with typically light-hearted replies.

Narumi and Jenny are a lesbian couple working for the realization of same-sex marriage in Japan. They were featured in a Reuters article in March after a court in Sapporo ruled that barring such marriages was unconstitutional. As of August 2021, same-sex marriage is not legally recognized in Japan, but this ruling was an important and symbolic step in that direction. Together, Jenny and Narumi run a YouTube Channel called "Girls Right TV".
Recently, on their Twitter account (@narumi_jenny), they related what happened when they visited "Turtle Talk" and asked Crush about a subject that's most dear to them.
" 'Do you think same-sex marriage will be possible someday (in Japan)?'
I was so moved and I only vaguely remember it but here's what Crush answered:
'There are all kinds of fish in the sea, and even though we don't speak the same language, we're all friends. You may worry about what others think, but your partner is what matters most, so make sure you show your love to your partner in front of you. Everyone, let's give these two a round of applause to show our support!' "
Although there were a few disapproving remarks, Crush's uplifting reply mostly elicited positive comments such as "That's Disney for you," "He's teaching us the most important things in life," "Totally awesome, dude!" and "I hope your dreams come true!"
Crush has already lived for 150 years but if these reactions are any indication, the sea turtle with the laid-back surfer dude attitude is still growing his fan base. Rock on!
