Throughout the years, Tomica has recreated over a thousand different types of cars into miniature die-cast toys. This includes collaborations with modern pop culture institutions like Sanrio and Pokémon. The latest pop culture icon that they’re working with is none other than the franchise that had what was arguably the most anticipated anime movie of the year, Evangelion.
Despite repeated delays, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time was finally released on August 13, 2021, and is currently receiving a positive reception among critics and fans alike. Patterns and colors from the franchise’s signature Evangelion Unit-01 can be seen all over the exterior of Tomica’s latest collaboration model.
The base vehicle was based on the fifth-generation Toyota GR Supra from 2019. The GR Supra line of sports cars is popularly used in world championship-level motorsports, and in the past, Tomica has created miniatures for its previous-generation models as well.
The Eva RT-01 GR Supra model car is currently up for pre-orders in Japan for 1,000 yen, with deliveries scheduled for the middle of October. It quickly sold out on Rakuten, but can still be found through the Supporto online store.
