The image of a sleeping cat, curled up all snug, is so classic that it’s even spawned goods in Japan inspired by the pose itself. We’ve seen sleeping cat signature stamps, and even sculpture moulds to create as many sleeping cat shapes as you can.

But while some cats curl up peacefully, other cats have a slightly more chaotic way of getting forty winks in.

This Japanese cat went viral on Twitter for her bizarre and unbelievable way of sleeping, attracting over 27 thousand retweets and 68 thousand likes.

The super cute kitty is called Kaede, and her owner made this post with the caption, ‘This seems fake. She’s sleeping. Like this…’

Looking at the photos, it’s easy to see why the owner was dumbfounded. Kaede seems to have fell through the lid at the top of the cardboard box, with her legs at strange angles, and still managed to be sound asleep the whole time.

The angle showing just her front leg sticking up in the air is particularly humorous.

Although the pose itself looks quite awkward, her expression looks content, as if she is sleeping well. One commenter noted that when it comes to sleeping undisturbed, Kaede is a heavyweight contender.
